CPPCC chairman calls for joint fight against "Taiwan independence"

China hopes that friends from all sectors of the society in Indonesia will join China's effort to safeguard regional peace and security by jointly opposing "Taiwan independence", senior Chinese leader Jia Qinglin said in Jakarta Sunday evening.

Advancing the strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN is an important part of China's foreign policy with its neighbor countries, Jia said in Jakarta Sunday.

China sticks to its chosen path of peace and development, said Jia Qinglin in Jakarta on Sunday.

The Chinese people deeply understand that development can be permanent and reliable only if it is realized by peaceful means, said Jia, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, while delivering a speech at the welcome banquet attended by over 800 people from various sectors of Indonesia.
