Air China's freight section has submitted an application to the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) for opening freight routes to the United States, said Tuesday's Beijing News.
Two Boeing 747 freight planes will fly twice a week on the Beijing-Anchorage-Dallas-Chicago-Anchorage-Beijing route, which is scheduled to become operational in April this year.
Though no profits are reported in both passenger and freight transport on the China-US air route currently, Air China still hopes the new freight route would bring more business in upcoming years, said a senior official with Air China.
