Male, Han nationality, born in October 1944, native of Yuechi County, Sichuan Province; began to work in 1969, and joined the Communist Party of China in 1973; ph. D. degree.

Studied at the Department of Planning and Statistics in Renmin University of China in 1964-1969; worked in Beijing Dongfanghong Refinery in 1969-1970; worked as Team leader of Pingliang branch of the Agricultural Publicity group, Gansu Province; worked as planner, deputy chief, and chief of the Production Planning Section in Gansu Cotton Textile Spinnery in 1971-1978; studied at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1978-1981, and graduated with a master’s degree in Economics; worked as deputy director of the Research Division of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1981-1985; studied at the Graduate School of CASS in 1985-1988, and graduated with a doctor’s degree in Economics (visiting scholar to the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1986-1987); secretary of the Party Committee of the Organs and director of the Research Division of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1988-1990; secretary of the Party Committee of the Organs and deputy director-general of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1990-1991; attended in advanced studies at the School of Economics, University of Colorado in the U.S. in 1991-1992; worked successively as secretary of the Party Committee of the Organs, secretary of the Party Committee, and deputy director-general of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1992-1995; secretary of the Party Committee and director-general of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1995-1996; director-general of the Institute of Industrial Economics, CASS in 1996-1998; vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and member of the Leading Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences starting from 1998.
