Main functions and responsibilities:

Responsibilities for units have been made out for Provincial Committee of Minority Affair, according to the Party's fundamental guideline and policy for minority work and provincial Party committee and provincial government's requirements for its committee system, to bring out the functions of the committee system into full play, and to help committee units fulfill their responsibilities.

1. To implement guideline, policy, laws and regulations on minority work by the central government, State Department, provincial Party committee and provincial government.

2. To do a research and work out policy and statute for social management, economic development and cultural and educational business for minorities and minority districts in Hunan.

3. To investigate and research minority issues, and coordinate and supervise subordinates to handle minority work well.

4. To safeguard equal rights of minorities and power of autonomy of minority districts.

5. To participate in activities concerned with minorities or in minority districts, and combine them with work for the committee, so as to do some work for minorities and minority districts.

6. To undertake work demanded by provincial Party committee and provincial government, and business entrusted by provincial committee of minority affair.
