Bureau of Health of Hebei Province is a department of in charge of health work with the following functions:

1. Implement the guidelines, policies and statutes of the national health organization; draft local statutes about provincial health work; propose development planning and strategic goal of national health work; establish and supervise the implementation of provincial technical criteria and health standards.

2. Establish the development planning and the standard of community health services, direct the implementation of development planning.

3. Manage the health work planning and policies of countryside, maternity and children, guide the implementation of primary health care planning and special technique to maternity and infants.

4. Highlight the policy of prophylaxis, carry out the extensive health education, set down prophylaxis and treatment planning to severe diseases threatening public health, and organize overall prophylaxis in relation to severe diseases.

5. Direct the reforms of the medical institutions, establish provincial medical criteria, service standards and supervise the implementation.

6. Direct and administer the blood stations and plasma stations to collect and supply qualified blood for clinical use.

7. Daft the development planning of medical science, technology and education, organize the breakthrough of major medical technical projects, direct the popularization of medical technical achievement.

8. Establish legal enforcement of the work planning and organize the implementation.

9. Make the development planning of qualified medical personnel; carry out the professional ethics, and draft the qualification standards for medical staff.

10.Take charge of the medical affairs and medical team in regard to international cooperation, promote technical exchanges with international health organizations.

11. Take charge of the routine work of NPHCC and provincial endemic prophylaxis and treatment team.

12. Take charge of health care for the individuals listed by provincial health organization.

13. Organize provincial technical resources to assist local government and relative department to take emergent treatment in epidemic situation; prevent and control the epidemic situation and disease from happening.

14. Administer Bureau of Chinese Traditional Medicine.

15. Undertake other related commitments of Hebei Province.
